When you start talking to yourself like a therapist:
Previously…
Me: “I feel so sad/depressed/angry about [insert absolutely anything]”
My brain 🧠: yeah yeah we get itttt can we move on now please this feeling is literally taking over ur life it’s really not that big a deal u drama queen.
Now…
Me: “I feel so sad/depressed/angry about [insert absolutely anything]”
Therapist brain 🧠: Gosh, that’s a lot to deal with, and those feelings are all totally valid and totally normal. Well done for sitting with them, I can’t imagine that’s easy right now.
And all of a sudden I’m not fighting myself anymore 😏. And all of a sudden I’m giving those feelings a chance to process and a chance to pass.
We are allowed to make a big deal of things that feel really big to us. Let’s start normalising that shit. 🙌🏻
